Great British Pub Awards

Our finalists at this years Great British Pub Awards 2017 may not have walked away with any trophies on the night but it was great to see six of our pubs in attendance.

The Anchor Inn, Wingham (Best Pub Garden/Best Live Entertainment), The Lion Hotel, Treorchy (Best Partnership/Best Sports Pub), The Thirsty Bear, Waterloo (Best Sports Pub), The Chequers, Houghton Conquest (Best Family Pub), Rose & Crown, St Albans (Best Family Pub), and Cellar House, Eaton (Best Community Pub) were all shortlisted finalists.

Adrian Emmett, publican at The Lion, Treorchy, was delighted to be shortlisted in two categories but is determined to enter again next year and walk away with an award or two.

He said: "We've got a fantastic team at The Lion and although we haven't won this year, we can certainly claim to be the best pub in Wales in our categories!

"We're proud of where we've come as a business and will continue to forge relationships with the local community."

The Eagle and Child, Ramsbottom, beat off strong competition from across the UK to secure the overall title of pub of the year after first being named Partnership Pub of the Year, sponsored by Ei Group.

Congratulations to all of our finalists.
